Attendance
Notes about our Attendance
At Leigh Beck Infant & Nursery Academy we support the DFES Guidance on attendance that: ‘Parents should ensure that their children arrive at school on time, properly attired and in a condition to learn’.
Registration
Children should attend school on 190 days a year (380 sessions). The children are registered twice a day. Pupils should arrive at 8.30 am. Children arriving after 8.45 am should come in through the office, where parents must sign them into our electronic 'Late Book' and provide a reason for lateness. At 9.15 am, registers close. In accordance with regulations, if your child arrives after that time, they will receive a register mark that shows them to be on site, but will count as an unauthorised absence.
Parents must contact the school office as soon as possible (before 8.45) to inform the school of a child’s absence. The office telephone number is 01268 682322. Absences must be supported by medical evidence whenever possible. Absences of three days or more will be unauthorised unless supported by medical evidence. Parents must also provide a ‘return to school’ letter when their child returns to school stating the reason for absence.
Parents must advise, in writing if their child is going to be absent for any other reason, for example for a medical appointment. This may take the form of an appointment letter, card or text.
Term Time Holidays
Holidays cannot be granted as an authorised leave unless there are exceptional circumstances. A form entitled ‘Application for Leave of Absence’ must be completed and supported by a letter stating the reason for term time absence. If a child is absent for 5 days or more an application will be made to the local authority for the issue of a Penalty Notice.
Term dates are available.
